Jordan Washington, a 6-foot-8, 275-pound forward from Queens, committed to Iona on Monday.
Washington, a sophomore at Indian Hills Community College, chose the Gaels over Seton Hall, Oregon State, Western Kentucky and Northern Illinois. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
“I just want to put on my for my city, that’s all,” he said of picking Iona.
Washington was the Warriors’ scoring leader at 15.3 points a game and also led in rebounding at 7.5.
“I’m going to be a big-time scorer and rebounder and help my team get to the NCAA Tournament,” Washington said.
“I will play hard, run up and down the floor, rebounding, getting back one defense and playing hard.”
