Cheick Diallo, the MVP of the McDonald’s All-American Game, is still considering all five schools on his list, his coach says.
“Cheick Diallo is still considering all five schools,” Eric Jaklitsch of Our Savior New American said in a group text to reporters. “Any reports of leaders or schools being eliminated are false.”
The 6-foot-9 Diallo is considering Iowa State, St. John’s, Kentucky, Kansas and Pitt.
After Saturday’s Nike Hoop Summit, Diallo will have in-home visits next week with Kentucky’s John Calipari, Kansas’s Bill Self and St. John’s Chris Mullin. He was also expected to have visits with Pitt’s Jamie Dixon and Iowa State’s Fred Holberg after the Jordan Brand Classic on April 17, a source confirmed to SNY.tv. But that was before it was announced Hoiberg will have open heart surgery April 17.
“I’m trying to make a decision maybe Jordan Game or after Jordan Game,” he told OregonLive.com. “I wanna know what players are going to the NBA and what players are not going. That’s my big thing.”
Diallo is projected at No. 14 in 2016 by DraftExpress.com.
As for his longer-term goal, Diallo told Jonathan Givony in the above interview from the Hoop Summit, “Go to college, maybe one day play pro, like a league like the NBA.”
