Kentucky, Louisville Watch Caleb Swanigan, Who’s Planning Visits

Kentucky head coach John Calipari and assistants Kenny Payne and Barry “Slice” Rohrssen, along with assistants from Louisville, spent Friday watching Caleb Swanigan, the 6-foot-8 power forward out of Fort Wayne (IN) Homestead.

Swanigan, who reclassed to 2015 from 2016, shot 3-for-11 for 14 points and 11 rebounds but was not pleased with his performance in a 49-36 loss to Chicago (IL) Curie at the Bluegrass Showcase in Lexington.

“Selfishness never wins,” Swanigan Tweeted.

“What I did in the second half wouldn’t work at Kentucky,” he said, according to Ben Roberts of the Lexington Herald-Leader. Coach Cal would chew me out. “They play as a team and they play together.”

Swanigan and his guardian, Roosevelt Barnes, attended Kentucky the weekend of their NBA Combine, and planned to visit Kentucky again following this weekend’s event, according to Evan Daniels of Scout.

Swanigan is also planning a visit to Cal, and could potentially trip there with Oakland (CA) Bishop O’Dowd forward Ivan Rabb, who has said Cal is among his top three.

Swanigan averaged 15.2 points and 11.9 rebounds this summer on the Nike EYBL circuit, leading the campaign in rebounding. He also won a gold medal with the USA U17 team at the World Championship in Dubai in August.

Swanigan is among the many high-profile 2015 recruits who plans to sign late.
