Eli Cain Decommits from Delaware

CainEli Cain has decommitted from Delaware but will still consider them.

“I’m going to reopen my recruitment,” the 6-foot-6, 200-pound St. Benedict’s Prep guard told SNY.tv. “Delaware is still on my list, but my family and I think with the uncertain status of Coach [Monte] Ross’ contract situation that it’s best to reopen everything for now.”

Ross’ contract expires after this season and Delaware athletic director Eric Ziady has not yet extended him despite the fact that Ross has gone 53-26 over the last 2 1/2 seasons and went to the NCAA Tournament a year ago.

A Willingboro, N.J., native Cain committed to Delaware in September but didn’t sign an NLI.

Memphis and Oklahoma were among the other schools recruiting him.

“I’m wide open in my recruitment,” he said.
