Diamond Stone is closing in on a college decision, but no official announcement date has been firmed up.
“We do not have a confirmed day,” Joe Grady, the athletic director at Milwaukee (WI) Dominican High School, told SNY.tv Thursday by phone. “Within the next few days we will try to set a confirmed date. We should have a date by Friday.”
Grady said he was uncertain if Stone will announce on ESPN.
“It depends on if ESPN wants to cover it,” he said.
The 6-foot-10 Stone is down to UConn, Wisconsin, Maryland and Oklahoma State. He Tweeted that he would announce Nov. 21 — two days after the NCAA early signing period ends — but his father then disputed that date to ESPN, telling Reggie Rankin, “No date has officially been set.”
Stone took his last official visit to UConn this past weekend and enjoyed it, and Huskies head coach Kevin Ollie then followed up with a visit to the school to see Stone on Wednesday.
“He came up for a visit,” DeShawn Curtis, Stone’s coach with the Wisconsin Legends AAU team, told SNY.tv Thursday. “That shows he’s a priority for them. I think that was to be expected. Each school followed up his official visit with a home visit.”
