Diamond Stone Visits Wisconsin, UConn Next

After attending Wisconsin for their Red/White scrimmage this past weekend, Diamond Stone will visit UConn beginning Thursday, according to OntheRadarhoops.com.

The 6-foot-10 Stone previously visited UConn in June so the fact that he’s making a second trip must be seen as good news for coach Kevin Ollie and the Huskies.

Given UConn’s history with sending big men to the NBA — Andre Drummond, Emeka Okafor and Charlie Villanueva to name a few — it’s safe to say Ollie will remind the big man from Milwaukee (WI) Dominican of that tradition.

Markis McDuffie to Wichita State

Markis McDuffie is heading to one of the nation’s top mid-major programs.

The 6-foot-7 wing out of New Jersey power St. Anthony of Jersey City and the Sports U AAU program tweeted Sunday morning that he has verbally committed to Wichita State and head coach Gregg Marshall. McDuffie chose the Shockers over VCU, while SMU and Boston College were also in the mix.

“I thought this was the best fit for me. The campus, the people, the players were great,” McDuffie told SNY.tv. “The coaches were very supportive, the skill development was great and Coach Marshall gave me a great opportunity to play and excel depending on how hard I work and I’m willing to do that.”

“Even though it’s far, I know I’m on a mission to do something special for my family.”

Isaiah Briscoe Trims to 3 Schools

Isaiah Briscoe is down to three schools now.

The 6-foot-3 Roselle (N.J.) Catholic point guard cut his list Saturday to St. John’s, Kentucky and UConn. ESPN.com first reported the news.

Missouri and Seton Hall were among the schools cut.

Briscoe had also previously considered Arizona, Rutgers, Louisville, Villanova and others.

Briscoe recently took official visits to UConn, Kentucky and St. John’s.

Kentucky became involved late in Briscoe’s recruitment but he seems impressed by John Calipari’s track record in sending players to the NBA.
