Derrick Jones, a 6-foot-7 wing forward from Radnor (PA) Archbishop Carroll, has cut his list to five schools, his father told SNY.tv.
“Derrick has cut his list down to five schools: UNLV, Auburn, UConn, Kentucky and Kansas are his top five,” Derrick Jones Sr. said.
“He cut Louisville, Florida, North Carolina and Arizona.” Those schools were initially on his list of nine.
Derrick Sr. said Kansas and Kentucky have reached out to his son “this week.’
He added that Auburn “should be coming to see Derrick next week at his school” and he should be “taking some official visits after Nov. 9.”
Jones told City of Basketball Love that he would take more visits after he takes the SAT.
Jones recently visited UNLV for the Scarlet & Gray Showcase and enjoyed it.
“I know a couple of the players so that’s one thing that attracted me down to the school,” he told COBL.com “Rashad Vaughn, Goodluck [Okonoboh], Dwayne Morgan, and they got a transfer from Rutgers, Jerome [Seagears].
“And after them, I got to know a couple more players; one of the kids from California named Kendall [Smith], so I already got to know a lot of them.”
UNLV VISITS POYSER
Speaking of UNLV, head coach Dave Rice and assistant Todd Simon had a home visit Monday in Brampton, Ontario with Jalen Poyser, a 2015 point guard from Athlete Institute in Canada.
“They spent the afternoon at AI and they are showing him that they need him,” Mark Poyser, the player’s father, told SNY.tv.
Poyser also visited UNLV for the Scarlet & Gray Showcase and is considering UNLV along with Rhode Island and St. Bonaventure.
