Virginia Tech Lands Power Forward Blackshear

Virginia Tech coach Buzz Williams picked up a commitment Saturday night from Kerry Blackshear, a 6-foot-8 power forward from Orlando (FL) Evans.

“I felt really comfortable with them,” Blackshear told Scout.com. “I felt comfortable with Coach Buzz and just pulled the trigger.”

The No. 22 power forward in the 247Sports composite rankings, Blackshear also considered SMU, Georgia, Vanderbilt, Clemson and Kansas State.

“SMU was very close,” Blackshear told Scout. “It really came down to those two. I just loved the environment (Virginia Tech) had there.”

He is Virginia Tech’s first 2015 pledge.
