LR- Jaylen Brown - Adidas Gauntlet Indy (Day 1)-1Jaylen Brown, the No. 1 player in the Class of 2015, will likely wait until the spring to make his college decision, his mother Michelle Brown told SNY.tv by phone Wednesday evening.

“We don’t want to rush into anything, we want to make sure we have weighed all our options and try to make the best decision possible,” she said, confirming earlier comments to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“This is a big decision for Jaylen. Jaylen wants to be taking into account everything that he needs to be successful first in academics and then athletics. Just the whole school being a combination, being able to relate to the team and the coach as well to be a mentor and take him from being a young adult to a man.”

**Carlton Bragg has set a home visit with Illinois for Sept. 30, his mentor, Michael Graves, told SNY.tv. The 6-foot-8 power forward from Cleveland (OH) Villa-Angela St. Joseph recently cut his list to include Kentucky, Kansas, Illinois, Arizona and UCLA. He will visit Kansas Oct. 10 and Kentucky Oct. 17 on unofficials.

**Stephen Zimmerman, the 7-footer from Las Vegas Bishop Gorman, set a home visit with Kentucky for Sept. 13, his mother told Chip Miller of SNY.tv. The Zimmermans will also host UNLV on Stephen’s birthday, Sept. 9th, Arizona the next night on the 10th, North Carolina on the 11th, Kansas the 15th, UCLA on Sept. 16th and Indiana on the 18th.

2014 adidas NationsThon Maker, the No. 1 player in the Class of 2016, and his brother, 2017 forward Matur Maker, have left the Carlisle (VA) School and are debating their next move.

The 7-foot native of the Sudan and his 6-10 brother are considering Hopewell (N.C.) Academy and Athlete Institute in Orangeville, Ontario.

“After an excellent academic year and State Championship season at the Carlisle School, followed by a great AAU seasons on the Adidas circuit with Team Loaded VA, the common theme for Thon and Matur to optimize their potential has been core strength development with additional muscle gain,” Ed Smith, their guardian, said in a statement. “The last Adidas Nations provided Thon with the opportunity to be assessed by the performance specialist group P3. We were able to get an in depth analysis of Thon’s strengths and areas of improvement.

Dwayne Bacon, a 6-foot-6 5-star shooting guard from Oak Hill Academy (Va.), will trip to Florida State this weekend and also has visits set for Georgetown (Sept. 12) and Tennessee (Oct. 4), Oak Hill coach Steve Smith told SNY.tv Wednesday morning.

Bacon also visited USC last weekend, while Oklahoma State, SMU and Auburn are among those “trying to get him to visit,” Smith said.

Still, FSU — which will also host 6-4 guard Malik Beasley and 7-4 Jean Marc Christ Koumadje of the Showtime Ballers AAU program this weekend — has always been considered in strong position for Bacon.

“I just like that they’re up front with me,” Bacon said of FSU in July. “I can come in and help them right away, so they say, and I’m looking forward to coming in a helping a school right away. That’s a big part of my decision, just being comfortable with the coach.”

Tennis

Roger FedererNEW YORK — One of the major keys to Roger Federer‘s resurgence this summer has been an attacking style of tennis that has him coming him to the net enough to make his new coach Stefan Edberg proud.

Federer, the five-time U.S. Open champ, won 35 of 52 net approaches in his 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 fourth-round victory over No. 17 Roberto Bautista Agut on Tuesday night inside Arthur Ashe Stadium.

“Coming to net requires a lot of agility and explosivity,” said Federer, who has won 22 of his last 26 matches. “And I’m happy to have that back.”

Doral Moore, a 7-foot center from Montverde (FL) Academy, plans to visit Illinois and Wake Forest, but has no other plans at the moment.

The visit to Illinois is set for the weekend of Sept. 26 and the Wake Forest visit is not yet set.

“I’m not really sure right now, I still have to talk to my parents,” Moore said Tuesday by phone from Montverde, where he is getting acclimated to his new team that includes Ben Simmons, Noah Dickerson and EJ Montgomery. 

Moore recently cut his list to five schools — Kentucky, Ohio State, Florida, Wake Forest, and Illinois.
