Iona Prep (N.Y.) point guard Ty Jerome recently took visits to GW and UVA, and he says that he liked both schools immensely.
“I really enjoyed both of my visits,” Jerome told SNY.tv. “They are two completely different schools, but I enjoyed both of them. Virginia is in more of a college town, and the campus is beautiful. GW is more in the city.”
Jerome said that the coaching staff made it clear that the opportunity to play right away would present itself.
“[GW] Coach [Mike Lonergan] said that they have a lot of confidence in me,” Jerome said. “He also said that the opportunity to play early would be there. I could play the point guard, and I could play off the ball too.”
In his visit to Charlottesville, the 6-foot-3 rising junior said that UVA showed him exactly how he would fit into their scheme of complex sets.
“Coach [Tony] Bennett actually sat down with us and showed us film of my game and compared it to his offense,” Jerome said. “He showed us exactly how he sees me fitting into their offense at UVA.”
As an overview, Jerome says that both schools made a very good impression.
“UVA was great, just the facilities, the coaching staff was great, it seems like they would be a great fit,” Jerome said. “On the other side, I really like the coaching staff at GW a lot.”
