NEW YORK — Isaiah Briscoe doesn’t plan on announcing his college choice anytime soon, which could mean that his list will change and fluctuate in the coming weeks and months.
“I’m going to decide as late as possible,” the 6-foot-3 Roselle (N.J.) Catholic guard told me at the Elite 24. “l just want to sit back and just see who’s going to the NBA and things like that.”
Briscoe is considering St. John’s, Seton Hall, Rutgers, Arizona, Louisville and Villanova, but it’s possible more schools could enter the mix if he doesn’t announce until next spring.

NEW YORK – The road back from a serious knee injury has been a long one for Harry Giles, but lately he has shown signs of returning to the form that had him rated as the No. 1 player in the Class of 2016 by some media outlets like 247 Sports.
Giles, a 6-foot-10 forward who plays at Wesleyan Christian Academy (N.C.), finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds on Saturday for Team Freedom in the Under Armour Elite 24 game in Brooklyn. He shot an efficient 8-for-16 from the field and also grabbed seven offensive rebounds.
Giles tore his ACL, MCL and meniscus while playing for the USA Under-16 team last summer and missed his sophomore season of high school basketball. He finally returned to the court this May after 11 months of rehab and recovery. Giles has shown some signs of rust which is natural when returning from an injury of that nature, but in similar fashion to his performance in New York on Saturday, Giles has begun to display the kinds of performances that have the bluebloods of college basketball very interesting in gaining a player of his ilk.
Auburn coach Bruce Pearl and his staff are having quite a weekend.
After landing 6-foot-6 Danjel Purifoy a few days ago, they got a commitment this weekend from 6-8 Findlay Prep forward Horace Spencer during his visit, according to his coach, Rick Barrett.
“It took me by surprise,” Horace Spencer Sr. told SNY.tv on Sunday. “I didn’t think he was ready, but he liked everything they had to say and what they wanted to do. [Assistant coach] Chuck Person was a big reason he liked this school. We had more visits to do [but] they said he can play the 4, 3 or 2 defensively and he will start.”
Just when you thought this Ray Kasongo situation couldn’t get any more bizarre, it went and took another wild turn.
The 6-foot-9 Canadian forward signed with the College of Southern Idaho (a junior college), as reported here Saturday, but he never made it to campus.
Kasongo’s bags made it to the Boise, Idaho airport but he did not. A source said Kasongo was intercepted by someone at the Denver airport and taken elsewhere.
“Ray Kasongo did sign with us but did not show up at the Boise Airport like he was supposed to,” CSI coach Jared Phay told SNY.tv Sunday. “His bags came but he didn’t.
Uncommitted small forward Jaylen Brown went for 23 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists and Duke-bound big man Chase Jeter piled up 17 points and 15 rebounds as Team Liberty beat Team Freedom, 127-116, in the 9th Annual UA Elite 24 Saturday night in Brooklyn.
Jeter’s 15 rebounds set the record for the highest single-game total since the game’s inception in 2006.
Uncommitted shooting guard Antonio Blakeney, who will visit Louisville next weekend, added 22 points on 10-of-14 shooting for Team Liberty.

NEW YORK – After cutting his list to four schools a little over two weeks ago, Jawun Evans has planned to visits to two of his remaining schools in the coming weekends.
Evans is a 6-foot 2015 point guard out of Dallas (TX) Kimball who went for a near double-double of 9 points and 10 assists as Team Liberty beat Team Freedom, 127-116, Saturday night in the 9th Annual UA Elite 24 in Brooklyn.
The final four schools in contention for Evans’ talents are Illinois, USC, Texas and Oklahoma State.
“Next weekend, I will be going to visit Southern Cal and the weekend after that, I’ll be taking my Illinois visit,” Evans said.
