Thursday saw a slew of commitments in the college basketball world, with USC, Temple, Michigan and Wagner among those landing recruits.
**Bennie Boatwright, a 6-foot-9 forward from Mission Hills (CA) Village Christian, verbally committed to USC and head coach Andy Enfield. The news was first reported by Scout.com.
The No. 10 small forward in the 247Sports.com composite rankings in the Class of 2015, Boatwright also considered Arizona State, UCLA, Washington and Oregon, among others, according to reports.
Boatwright joins power forward Chimezie Metu in USC’s 2015 class. The 6-8 Metu committed in May.
USC went 11-21 last season and 2-16 in Pac-12 play.
**Trey Lowe, a 6-6 2015 shooting guard from Ewing (N.J.), pulled the trigger for Temple, picking the Owls over St. Joe’s, SMU and VCU.
“Temple’s been with me ever since my sophomore year of high school,” Lowe told COBL.com. “So they’ve been like a big family to me, I was always comfortable when I stepped on campus. They have my major for Communications so that just helped it out. I was ready to commit.”
Lowe averaged 32.2 points during the postseason while leading Ewing to the New Jersey Group 3 state title.
Temple finished 9-22, 4-14 in the American Athletic Conference.
**Jon Teske, a 2016 7-footer from Medina (OH), pledged to Michigan over Ohio State, Dayton and Miami, according to UMHoops.com.
Teske visited Michigan this past weekend and decided to pull the trigger.
“They would just use me in the high post with pick-and-pop, pick-and-roll,” Teske told UMHoops.com. “They really like my passing ability and then just how I play the game for being a young 7-footer and just me having a pretty good jumpshot from 15-feet and the elbow and my three point shot is coming along. But just working me in the high post and using me right there.”
**Devin Liggeons, a 6-3 2015 wing from Imhotep Charter in Philadelphia and Team Philly, committed to Wagner Thursday on his unofficial visit.
The shooting guard also considered Niagara, Sacred Heart and St. Francis.
“I didn’t expect to commit today, but I really liked what I saw and I felt like there was no reason for me to hold off,” he told COBL.com.
“There were just a lot of plusses […] I loved the coaching staff, coach Bas[hir Mason], he’s a great guy, great coach. Their style of play, the school itself, the academics, the area it’s in–it’s not too far from home.”
Wagner went 19-12 in the NEC last year.
