Briscoe Sidelined 4-6 Weeks With Fractured Foot

briscoeIsaiah Briscoe will be sidelined 4-6 weeks with a “slight fracture” in his right foot, his father, George Briscoe, told SNY.tv Wednesday morning.

The 6-foot-3 Roselle (N.J.) Catholic point guard suffered the foot injury during a recent AAU trip to Las Vegas and is in a walking boot.

Briscoe won’t take any college visits for a month or so while he recovers and rests, and also won’t compete in the Under Armour Elite 24 Game set for Aug. 23 in Brooklyn, his father said.

Briscoe had a brilliant summer in which he won a gold medal with the USA U18 team in the FIBA Americas Championship and also led the Playaz Basketball Club to the Peach Jam championship where he earned ZAGSBLOG All-Peach Jam 1st-Team honors.

He is being recruited by Arizona, Louisville, St. John’s, Seton Hall, Rutgers and Villanova and is expected to decide sometime this  fall.

Briscoe is the latest star high school player to suffer an injury after a long summer of play.

Findlay Prep 2016 point guard Derryck Thornton broke his wrist at the USA U17 trials and did not make the 12-man cut for the team. Las Vegas High 2015 wing Ray Smith tore his ACL this summer, and then committed to Arizona shortly therafter.
