Report: Likely Temple Assistant Brunson Charged in Sexual Assault

Rick BRick Brunson, who reportedly was set to be named an assistant coach at Temple later this month, was arrested June 25 on a sexual assault charge at a fitness center in suburban Chicago, according to a report in the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The paper sites a Vernon Hills (Ill.) police report saying Brunson grabbed an employee of Lifetime Fitness and was charged with attempted criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual abuse and third-degree aggravated battery. No court date was announced.

Brunson is a 1994 Temple graduate, former pro player and former NBA assistant. The Inquirer sited a source saying Brunson had been set to join the Temple staff later this month.

Rick Brunson is also the father of Jalen Brunson, the No. 1 point guard in the Class of 2015, according to ESPN.com.

Jalen Brunson has Temple listed among his final eight schools, along with Michigan State, UConn, Purdue, Illinois, Kansas, Villanova and Michigan.

He has said he hopes to decide before the high school season begins.
