Academically Cleared, McCullough Excited for Syracuse

McCullough CuseGREENBURGH, N.Y. — Chris McCullough admits it was a little nerve-racking waiting on his standardized test scores to come back.

“It was stressful because I thought I was going to get it back pretty early so I could go to Syracuse earlier, but I didn’t get it till late,” the 6-foot-10, 215-pound McCullough told SNY.tv before the Frankie Williams Charity Classic.

As first reported earlier Tuesday by SNY.tv, McCullough received his test scores on Monday and is academically cleared to enroll at Syracuse. He plans to head up for the second summer session in July.

“I’m feeling good  about it,” he said. “I got it out the way now. I got a lot of weight off my shoulders so I’m good now.”

Syracuse lost C.J. Fair, Jerami Grant and Tyler Ennis — all of whom are involved in pre-draft workouts — and it is up to McCullough and point guard Kaleb Joseph to start a new chapter with the Orange.

“They lose a lot but we’re still bringing two good guys in, me and Kaleb, so it should be good,” McCullough said.

“We coming in bringing energy, play hard from day one, that’s it.”

McCullough said he talks to Joseph every day and to Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim on a regular basis.

“We just talk about me getting up there and just getting it done,” he said. “Just coming ready to play.”

He added: “I just want to work on everything. I want to be a complete player, not one-dimensional.”
