Seth Allen Latest to Leave Maryland

Maryland sophomore Seth Allen is transferring, becoming the fourth Maryland player to do so this offseason.

“I had a great two years there,” the 6-foot-1 Allen told ESPN.com. “And I’m thankful for the opportunity, but I also feel as though it’s time for me to move on.”

Allen told ESPN.com he has yet to receive his release.

“I’ve grown close to Seth and his family over the past few years, so I am disappointed he has decided to leave Maryland,” said head coach Mark Turgeon. “I wish Seth the best.”

Allen averaged 13.4 points and 3.0 assists in 2013-14, including an 18-point effort in a loss to Florida State to end the season and a 20-point outing in a win over Virginia before that. He missed the first 12 games of the season with a broken foot.

Allen joins Shaq Cleare (Texas,) Nick Faust (Oregon State) and Roddy Peters (undecided) among Maryland players to transfer. Peters is visiting West Virginia this weekend.

Maryland adds point guard Romelo Trimble, shooting guard Dion Wiley, small forward Jared Nickens and 7-footers Trayvon Reed and Michal Cekovsky.
