FindlayWhile the eyes of the college basketball world will turn this week to the Final Four in North Texas, many of the future stars of college hoops will be on display in New York City.

The DICK’S Sporting Goods High School National Tournament (formerly the National High School Invitational) features seven of the top eight ranked boys teams by USA Today.

The boys field includes defending NHSI Champion and No. 1-ranked Montverde Academy (FL), coached by former St. Patrick coach Kevin Boyle, as well as three different 2014 State Champions: Northside Christian Academy from North Carolina, The Sagemont School from Florida and Rainier Beach High School from Washington.

RandleIn this, the Year of the Freshmen, Andrew Wiggins, Joel Embiid, Jabari Parker and Aaron Gordon are all home watching March Madness on television.

So are Tyler Ennis and Noah Vonleh.

In fact, the only freshman projected in the Top 10 picks of the NBA Draft who is still playing is Kentucky forward Julius Randle.

The fact that the 6-foot-9 Randle is still playing — and playing well — has only helped his draft stock.

JabariSonny Parker, the former NBA player and father of Duke freshman star Jabari Parker, says his son is “undecided” about entering the NBA Draft.

“He’s undecided and we know the [NBA’s Early Entry eligibility] deadline is the 27th [of April] so if he’s going to make a decision he has to make it by that date but right now he’s undecided,” Sonny told SNY.tv by phone Tuesday morning.

The 6-foot-8 Parker is projected as the No. 3 pick in the draft behind the Kansas duo of Andrew Wiggins and Joel Embiid, according to DraftExpress.com.

Wiggins on Monday officially declared for the draft, while the 7-foot Embiid has yet to publicly announce, although Yahoo! Sports reported he’s coming out.

Coaching moves, Duke, Marquette

Marquette has hired Duke associate head coach Steve Wojciechowski as its new basketball coach.

Coach Wojo has worked with Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski for 19 years, including 15 as an assistant.

He is the second high-profile Coach K assistant to leave in the last two years, following Chris Collins, who took the Northwestern job.

Wojo, 37, replaces Buzz Williams, who resigned March 21 for the Virginia Tech job.

Marquette also reportedly interviewed VCU’s Shaka Smart and Tennessee’s Cuonzo Martin.
