Wright to be Coach of Year; All-Big East Teams Named

Villanova’s Jay Wright will be named the Big East Coach of the Year, SNY.tv has learned.

Wright led the Wildcats to a 28-3 overall record, 16-2 in the Big East. Their only two losses were to Creighton by a combined 49 points.

Villanova is in position to be a No. 1 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

They open play Thursday in the Big East quarterfinals as the No. 1 seed.

McDermottIt’s a lock that Creighton’s Doug McDermott — who went off for a career-high 45 points Saturday night against Providence and became the eighth player in Division I history to go over 3,000 for a career — will be named Player of the Year.
