    PitinoLouisville head coach Rick Pitino visited Monday with Las Vegas Bishop Gorman 2015 big men Stephen Zimmerman and Chase Jeter (pictured at left).

    “It was the first we met him, so he just told us general things about the school and how he runs practices, coaches, etc.,” Kim Jeter, Chase’s mother, told SNY.tv. “Great visit!”

    Kim said there was a “possibility” that the 6-foot-10 Chase could visit Louisville. He takes an unofficial to Arizona this weekend, and an official to Duke March 8 for the North Carolina game, the same weekend uncommitted 2014 big man Myles Turner visits.

    jaquanlyle61713JaQuan Lyle sat behind the Kansas bench for the Jayhawks’ 83-75 victory over Oklahoma Monday night, and Kansas-bound big man Cliff Alexander wants his friend to join the team.

    “It’s great, still out here,” Lyle told SNY.tv by text.

    “Rock chalk we gotta get @jmamba5 to commit to the family,” Alexander Tweeted about Lyle.

    Kansas expects to have several guards returning in Naadir Tharpe, Frank Mason, Conner Frankamp, Brannen Greene and possibly Wayne Selden, and also brings in wing Kelly Oubre.

    Kansas is the latest school to offer Class of 2015 point guard Justin Simon after assistant Kurtis Townsend watched him play Tuesday night.

    “An offer like that would mean a lot,” Simon told SNY.tv Monday night. “Just a program like that with that atmosphere and that pedigree, if they offer, it would be amazing.”

    Louisville offered earlier this week.

    “It’s really big for me,” the 6-foot-4 guard from Temecula Valley (Ca.) said. “This recruiting process is something that has been a dream come true for me.”

    With Duke assistant Nate James and Ohio State assistant Greg Paulus on hand, Tyus Battle did not fail to impress.

    The 6-foot-5 Gladstone (N.J.) Gill St. Bernard’s sophomore guard went for 24 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists to lead Gill to an 81-46 victory over Watchung Hills Monday night.

    “The Duke staff loved him,” Gill coach Mergin Sina told SNY.tv.

    “Mergin told me that he got tremendous feedback from [Steve ‘Wojo’ Wojciechowski] and that James loved him,” Gary Battle, Tyus’ father, added.

    Charles Matthews, a five-star 2015 shooting guard from Chicago St. Rita, will announce his college choice on Wednesday morning at 9:30 EST at St. Rita.

    The 6-foot-6 Matthews Tweeted Monday, “Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan St, and Marquette was the final 5.”

    Ballislife’s Scott Comeau tweeted Monday night that Kentucky head coach John Calipari was in attendance at St. Rita practice on Monday. Calipari has landed commitments from Derrick Rose (while at Memphis), Anthony Davis and Tyler Ulis out of the Chicago Meanstreets AAU program in past years.

    NCAA Basketball: Creighton at St. John'sSt. John’s freshman guard Rysheed Jordan is questionable for Tuesday’s game against Xavier after suffering the death of a “close relative,” the school announced Monday.

    Johnnies head coach Steve Lavin said he and Jordan will meet and assess the “right thing to do” in terms of Jordan’s participation for Xavier.

    “He’s in Philadelphia today with his family for the viewing and will return to New York [Monday night]” Lavin said. “I’ll get together with Rysheed and approach the situation in an appropriate manner based on how he is navigating through this emotional minefield. It’s difficult to speculate how a person is going to respond to losing someone they are so close to.”

    Having visited Ohio State and Oklahoma State officially, Myles Turner has now set an official visit to Duke.

    The 6-foot-11 big man from Euless (TX) Trinity will trip to Duke March 8 for the North Carolina game, his father confirmed to SNY.tv. Las Vegas Bishop Gorman big man Chase Jeter also visits Duke that weekend.

    Turner will also take an unofficial to Texas A&M this weekend.

    “I really like Coach K and the history Duke has with producing NBA talent,” Turner said in a recent USA Today chat. “I could definitely play alongside another big man [Jahlil Okafor]. In college and the next level that’s what I’ll have to do.”
