GREENBURGH, N.Y. — Count Carmelo Anthony among those impressed by Jabari Parker.
“I watched the game yesterday, I like him a lot,” Anthony said of the Duke freshman at Knicks practice Friday. “I can just see the upside, the potential he has. His style of play kind of reminds me of myself, the things that he can do. His mid-range game, there’s not too many people at that level who have a mid-range basketball game. It’s hard to teach, it’s hard to learn, so if you have it that’s a special talent.”
Parker dressed three stalls from Anthony’s locker in the Knicks locker room Thursday night after putting up 23 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists in Duke’s 80-63 win over UCLA.
After the game, Parker, who may well be the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft, said believes his game compares to Melo’s.
“Yeah, it’s a good comparison,” Parker said after going his performance in front of a capacity crowd that included Bruce Springsteen, Tyson Chandler and Tim Hardaway Jr.
“He mastered the fundamentals. He’s always good at his craft. He works on it and that’s a person I’ve been looking up to, so yeah, that’s a good compliment.”
Chandler told SNY.tv that he would take Parker No. 1 overall.
