Michigan State Offers Teki Gill-Caesar

SONY DSCOn the same day they ascended to No. 1 in the AP Top 25 rankings, Michigan State made a bold move on the recruiting circuit, too.

The Spartans offered 2015 Huntington (W.V.) Prep wing Montaque “Teki” Gill-Caesar, who may or may not reclass to 2014 and has been compared by some to Kansas freshman Andrew Wiggins.

“They offered earlier today,” Gill-Caesar told SNY.tv. “Said they need to bring a 2 guard in.”

Michigan State will likely lose sophomore Gary Harris to the NBA Draft after this season.

Gill-Caesar is also being courted by Kentucky, Florida State, Missouri, Kansas and West Virginia. Huntington Prep coach Rob Fulford said he was under the impression Gill-Caesar could go to Kentucky “if he wanted.”

MSU associate head coach Dwayne Stephens watched both Gill-Caesar and his teammate, 2016 small forward Miles Bridges, this weekend in Kentucky.

MSU had already offered the 6-6 Bridges, a native of Flint, Mich.

“They want me to go on a visit sometime soon,” Bridges told SNY.tv.

Asked if the home-state school had an advantage, he said: “I would like to play there, but I keep my options open.”

He also holds offers from Kansas, West Virginia and Providence, among others, and has interest from Kentucky and Indiana.
