Leroy Butts to Rutgers

Leroy Butts is headed to Rutgers.

The 6-foot-8, 200-pound 2015 power forward from Clinton (Md.) Christian coach picked Rutgers over Miami, Cincinnati and DePaul.

“It’s a great fit for me,” said Butts, the Rivals No. 114 prospect in the Class of 2015.

Asked what skillset he will bring, he said, “Scoring, rebounding, athleticism.”

Said DC Assault coach Damon Handon: “He’s wired to score the ball, has a good mid-range game and is a rebounder.”

“I think it’ s a perfect fit because Leroy can do multiple things that people are not familiar with,” Clinton (Md.) Christian coach Chris Cole told SNY.tv. “He can put it on the floor a little more than people think. He can definitely make shots. Eddie [Jordan]’s system allows him to run and get up and down the floor. If you can make shots in Eddie’s system, you can flourish.

“Me and Eddie are kind of close, so I’m glad he chose Rutgers.”

Butts is coach Jordan’s second 2015 commit, following 6-6 small forward Austin Burnette. Rutgers also has three 2014 pledges — Mike Williams, D.J. Foreman and Bishop Daniels.
