UConn announced that freshman forward Kentan Facey has been granted a waiver by the NCAA and will have a full four years of eligibility, beginning with the 2013-14 season.

“I am so pleased and excited that everything has worked out for this outstanding young man,” UConn coach Kevin Ollie said Friday. “It’s great to see him go through this situation and persevere. He just kept working very hard and believed in our university.”

The addition of Facey should help the Huskies in the frontcourt, where they are thin. They also added 7-foot freshman Amida Brimah, whom Ollie is high on.

Facey grew up in Trelawny, Jamaica, and attended school at Long Island (N.Y.)  Lutheran for the past two years. The 6-9 forward was the N.Y. State Gatorade Player of the Year in 2012-13, after averaging 14.8 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 4.5 blocks per game.

Andre Agassi says Rafael Nadal could be the GOAT.

The Greatest of All Time.

“I do think without Rafa winning one more major, you could make the argument that he’s the best of all time,” Agassi said Thursday in response to a question from SNY.tv on a conference call to promote the PowerShares senior tour.

(Read this earlier column for more on the question of whether Nadal, Federer or Rod Laver is the Greatest of All Time.)

After winning the U.S. Open, the 27-year-old Nadal has now 13 Grand Slam singles titles. His one-time arch-rival Roger Federer is the all-time men’s leader with 17 and Pete Sampras ranks second with 14.

Michigan State coach Tom Izzo will have a school visit Friday with Indianapolis Park Tudor small forward Trevon Bluiett, his father told SNY.tv.

The 6-foot-5 senior shooting guard recently decommitted from UCLA and is now considering Butler, Michigan State, Xavier and Memphis.

Following an official visit to Michigan State last week and a trip to Butler Saturday for practice, Bluiett also visited Xavier on Wednesday.

“They will be better than most predict,” Rey Bluiett said of Xavier, a new entry into the Big East under coach Chris Mack. “It was a well-structured practice with a balance of skillwork and game prep. It seems like a good place to get better.”

After initially saying that suspended forward Chane Behanan would be out for “a long time,” Louisville coach Rick Pitino has apparently adjusted his position and now says he could return “in a short period of time.”

“The reason he’s suspended and not off the team: He told the truth,” Pitino told the Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer Thursday at a book signing. “I said OK. There’s going to be a penalty and a price to pay, but he told the truth. We’ll get through this. Just do the right things and he’ll be back on the team in a short period of time.”

In a text message to SNY.tv, Pitino said there was no timeframe on a return for Behanan.

“Not at all,” he said. “My comments were he could be back if he keeps doing the right thing.”

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Eno Okoro works 16 hours a day, five days a week, in two separate jobs as a nurse’s aid in The Bronx in order to pay her mortgage and other bills.

During the past two years, she has had to endure more tragedy than many people do in a lifetime.

Last November, her husband, Stanislaus, died of a stroke in his native Nigeria.

Two months later, her middle son, 28-year-old Idiongo, passed away from colon cancer.

“It’s been very tough for the past two years,” Eno told SNY.tv by phone on Thursday.

Khadeem Lattin is headed to Oklahoma.

The 6-foot-9, 205-pound center from Redemption Christian Homeschool Academy in Houston called head coach Lon Kruger Thursday morning after consulting with his parents and John Lucas on Wednesday night.

“This morning he got up and made the call,” his mother, Monica Lamb, told SNY.tv Thursday.

Lattin had narrowed his list to Texas, USC and Oklahoma and took visits to Texas and Oklahoma.
