Jessie Govan Visits UConn, Seton Hall

Jessie Govan enjoyed a double-dip of visits over the weekend, hitting UConn for its Midnight Madness as well as Seton Hall.

The 6-foot-9, 255-pound Queens Village, N.Y., junior tripped to UConn Friday night.

“UConn’s atmosphere was amazing for their Midnight Madness,” Govan, who recently transferred to Wings Academy, told SNY.tv.

“I had a great talk with Coach [Kevin] Ollie after. Both [Ollie and Seton Hall coach Kevin Willard] said they would use me how I play, with my back to the basket but able to step out.”

UConn also had Malachi Richardson, Will jackson and JaQuan McKennon, among others, on campus.

Govan then visited Seton Hall on Saturday.

“Seton Hall was really nice,” he said. “I got to see the Prudential Center and then took a tour of the campus and watched practice. I like the way they use their big man, [Gene] Teague.

“Coach Willard also showed how much they throw it inside and how Teague was thrown into the second most times in the Big East last year.”

Two of Govan’s New York Lightning AAU teammates — Khadeen Carrington and Angel Delgado — have verbally committed to Seton Hall for 2014 and are working on Govan to join them in 2015.

“Yeah, Khadeen and Angel have talked to me about it,” Govan said.

Carrington and fellow 2014 Pirates commit Isaiah Whitehead told SNY.tv Saturday that they were trying to get a big man to join them in 2014, but getting Govan in 2015 would be a nice addition, too.

As for who is working the hardest, Govan said: “UConn, Seton Hall, Miami are recruiting me the hardest right now.”
