Stanley Johnson Cuts to 5

Stanley Johnson, the highly sought after wing from Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei, cut his list to five on Monday.

Johnson Tweeted he is down to USC, Arizona, Kentucky, Oregon and Florida.

UCLA and Kansas are out.

He visited Arizona this past weekend with Chicago Curie forward Cliff Alexander and has plans to visit Kentucky (Oct. 18) and Florida (Nov. 30). He was originally supposed to take an official to Kansas Oct. 4 for “Late Night in the Phog,” but postponed it to be with USA Basketball. Now it appears that visit won’t be made at all.

Johnson and Houston wing Justise Winslow have discussed a potential package, and Winslow is also considering Arizona, Kentucky and Florida. Winslow has yet to cut his list to five.

Johnson said it was possible the two could also end up at USC.

“We got a couple of similar schools on our lists and I think together we can do something real special in college,” Johnson told SNY.tv last month at the Elite 24. “Me and him think similiarly so me and him are really  talking about it, trying to get a decision done.

“It’s all about how the college feels about it. We want to do it, we’re committed to each other. As long as the college is OK with it and they’re seeing it the way we’re seeing it, then we can make it happen. But if it doesn’t happen that way, then we’re not going to do it.”
