Could a former Seton Hall player who’s now at Illinois influence a former Louisville commit to join the Illini?
Illinois guard Aaron Cosby — who transferred from Seton Hall — will host Quentin Snider on his visit to Illinois this weekend.
Both Cosby and Snider are from Louisville and have played ball together since middle school. Their fathers know one another, too.
“Coach [John] Groce said Aaron told them they needed to get in contact with us,” Scott Snider told the News Gazette of the day in July when Snider decommitted from Louisville. “They looked him up and everything and called either that night or early the next morning.”
Snider recently cut his list to Illinois, Michigan State, UCLA, UConn, Oklahoma State, USC and Cincinnati.
He is coming off a visit to UCLA that went well and had UCLA commit Trevon Bluiett trying to persuade Snider to join him in L.A.
“We had the week off and he really liked UCLA a lot last week, and we wanted to make sure he saw some other schools to compare,” Scott Snider told the News Gazette. “We felt it would be good to get them done early instead of waiting until the 28th.”
Illinois just picked up a pledge from Memphis forward Leron Black and is now looking to add Snider, too.
“We’ll need to go home and talk about it more, maybe take another visit and make sure that’s where his heart is,” Scott Snider said. “He liked UCLA; he liked it a whole lot. I wanted him to at least take another visit and not just jump on the first visit; we did that last time with Louisville. If he goes to Illinois and comes back and says he still likes UCLA and that’s where his heart is at, OK. He might get to Illinois and like it, and I wanted to make sure we visited there.”
