NEW YORK — Quadri Moore is focusing on five schools, and is planning a couple of visits.
The 6-foot-8, 225-pound center from Linden (N.J.) High is working on visiting Cincinnati next weekend and is planning a trip to Miami.
“I’m working on a visit to Miami and I’m taking I think an unofficial next weekend to Cincinnati. I’m not sure if it’s going to be unofficial or official yet,” Moore told SNY.tv at the Reebok Classic Experience at Rucker Park where he had six rebounds and two points to help Team EBC beat team Reebok, 73-72.
Moore has visited Seton Hall unofficially several times, and said coach Kevin Willard and his staff are pitching a frontcourt of Moore and new commit Angel Delgado beginning in 2014.
The ACC and the AAC both released their men’s basketball schedules this week, while the (new) Big East has yet to do so.
While the schedules highlight some exciting new league rivalries — Duke-Syracuse and North Carolina-Syracuse anyone? — they also illustrate the splintered natures of the new leagues.
In the old days, fans in the Northeast (and reporters, too) could simply focus on the Big East schedule to make plans for a given day or week.
Aaric Murray has found yet another college, this one his third.
The 6-foot-10 forward from Philadelphia announced Thursday he will transfer to Texas Southern after he was dismissed from West Virginia. He will be eligible immediately.
“I am very fortunate to be mentored by Coach John Lucas while I attend Texas Southern University,” Murray said in a statement provided to SNY.tv.
“Although this is not the road I expected to take, this journey will undoubtedly support my goals long term. I also feel that being mentioned by Coach Lucas and Coach Mike Davis will support my mission to be the best Aaric Murray I can be.

What an NCAA source told SNY.tv was expected to happen has now happened.
Pitt’s Derrick Randall has received a waiver from the NCAA to play immediately, sources close to the situation confirmed to SNY.tv after it was reported by The Sporting News.
The 6-foot-9 Randall transfered from Rutgers following the Mike Rice fallout.

Luke Kennard has been a hot commodity this summer, and his visit to Kentucky two weeks ago only fueled the flame.
“It was a great visit,” Mark Kennard, Luke’s father, told SNY.tv on Thursday. “We had a great time, met coach [John] Calipari, and just had a great time.”
A player who many think will seriously consider UK when the decision time comes, Luke told SNY.tv that Louisville was in his top 5 in July at 10th Grade Nationals in Orlando after Peach Jam.
“Coach [Rick] Pitino called me [after] Peach Jam.” Luke Kennard said. “He said that he wants to see me in a Cardinal uniform one day. I would say they are definitely in my top five right now.”

Maryland has added a big piece to their 2014 recruiting class.
Trayvon Reed, a 7-foot-1, 219 pound center out of Shiloh Snellville (Ga.) High School joined Romelo Trimble, Dion Wiley and Jared Nickens when he committed to the University of Maryland on Thursday afternoon. He cited the success of a former Maryland big man Alex Len as a reason that he chose the Terps.
“I felt like the situation that’s going on with me , Maryland is the best choice,” Reed told SNY.tv. “Alex Len sort of boosted my confidence with that choice. He came in at 218 (pounds), and left at 252. I’m 219 now and I feel like its the same situation.”
