In news that shouldn’t be considered shocking to anyone, Mac Irvin Fire coach Mike Irvin says he thinks Tyus Jones and Jahlil Okafor will both end up at Duke.

“In my mind, Duke has a really good chance,” Irvin told the Chicago Sun-Times. “Coach K has done a really great job recruiting him [Okafor].”

He added: “I believe there is a great chance that Tyus will go to Duke. If so, Jahlil and Tyus will probably be going to school together.”

Jones and Okafor have repeatedly said they will attend college together, with Duke long considered the frontrunner.

If you don’t know anything about Ray Kasongo, here’s something to keep in mind.

The 6-foot-9, 235-pound big man from Grassroots Canada recently went for 24 points, 15 rebounds and 7 blocks against Jahlil Okafor and Cliff Alexander, two of the most sought after big men in the Class of 2014.

“It was just an intense game,” Kasongo told SNY.tv of the game in Las Vegas from his home in Toronto. “The atmosphere was great. There was a lot of people. There was a lot of college coaches. I just felt like I had to show everyone I that I can compete against anyone and against the best.”

Gary Clark, a 6-foot-7 power forward from Clayton (N.C.) High School, visited N.C. State Thursday and has several other visits planned.

An underrated big man who can score inside and out, Clark averaged 17 points and 14 rebounds two years ago and was named to the Associated Press All-State team last season, according to HighSchoolOT.com.

“He is a player who is very good but not a finished product,” Clayton coach Denny Medlin told SNY.tv. “Nobody knows what his ceiling is but he’s going to keep getting better, and he’s already very good.”

As reported a year ago by SNY.tv, the Elite 24 will return to New York City this year.

The 8th annual Elite 24 game will be played outside under the Brooklyn Bridge at the historic Tobacco Warehouse on August 24th at 7 p.m. Here is the release:

Under Armour Basketball today announced it’s bringing the Elite 24 – the nation’s premier high school basketball event – back to New York for the first time since 2009. The 8th annual game will be played outside under the Brooklyn Bridge at the historic Tobacco Warehouse on August 24 at 7PM EST and will be televised live on ESPNU.
