    NEW YORK — Isaiah Briscoe went for 11 points, six assists and five rebounds while dazzling the crowd with his ball-handling as Team NYC beat Team USA, 126-110, Saturday night in the Big Strick Classic.

    Before the game, the 6-foot-2 junior guard talked to SNY.tv in the above video about his decision to transfer to Roselle Catholic from St. Benedict’s and about his recruitment.

    RC is the defending New Jersey Tournament of Champions winner, but loses Tyler Roberson (Syracuse), Hakim Saintil (South Alabama) and Malachi Richardson (Trenton Catholic).

    NEW YORK — Kelly Oubre came into New York City and won the MVP of the Big Strick Classic on Saturday night despite playing on a losing team.

    The 6-foot-6 Findlay Prep wing scored 22 points for Team USA in the loss.

    Before the big game, Oubre talked recruiting with SNY.tv and said he plans to visit Kansas Oct. 4 for “Late Night in the Phog” and could possibly visit Kentucky Oct. 18 for “Big Blue Madness.”

    “Kansas visit, me and my dad were talking closely about Kentucky shortly after because everybody’s Midnight Madnesses are kind of close, so those visits are probably going to be back-to-back-to-back when we really sit down and talk about them,” he said.

    Devin Booker, one of the top shooting guards in the Class of 2014, has cut his list to a top five, he confirmed to Scout.com Monday.

    As previously reported by SNY.tv., Booker is down to Michigan, Michigan State, Kentucky, Missouri and Florida.

    Michigan is the hometown favorite because Booker’s mother lives there. Head coach John Beilein and assistant LaVall Jordan both watched Booker at the Nike Global Challenge in Washington, D.C.

    “Well, Michigan’s been recruiting me since the eighth grade, so they have a special place in my heart I’d say because I’ve visited there seven times and my mom lives in Michigan still and she’d probably like me to stay closer to home and play,” Booker told SNY.tv. “I live in Mississippi but I’m there in Michigan for the summer.”

    Michigan State is also close to his mother’s home, and head coach Tom Izzo sat courtside for Booker’s games.

    Head coach Steve Lavin and St. John’s will embark on a European tour on Monday (Aug. 19) that will take them to stops in Paris, Amalfi, Rome and Barcelona through Sept. 1.

    “It’s a great opportunity for all 15 kids,” Lavin told SNY.tv referring to the team’s 12 returning players, newcomer Rysheed Jordan and two walk-ons.

    In preparation for the trip, the players will get a briefing on the areas of Europe they will visit.

    “The team will listen to two lectures from St. John’s professors on our campus prior to departure,” Lavin said. “They will give a global and historical perspective along with a discussion of the present issues of significance from the regions of the world we will be visiting. These lectures will give our team a better context for our upcoming travel.”

    Linden (N.J.) 2014 big man Quadri Moore informed  SNY.tv that he would like to keep Temple on his list of schools — which now stands at five.

    The 6-foot-8, 225-pound Moore is down to Seton Hall, Cincinnati, Wake Forest, Miami and Temple.

    His AAU coach, Brian Coleman, had initially said the list was down to three, but Moore added Wake Forest and Temple.

    Marquette and Rutgers had previously been in the mix.

    “He can only get five visits,” Coleman told SNY.tv Monday. “He wanted to cut it down and really get the process over with. He wants to take a look at these schools and get it done before the high school season.”
