In all the years of their historic rivalry, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have never met at the U.S. Open.

That could change this year — but it won’t happen in the final or even in the semifinals.

Federer, the five-time Open champ and the No. 7 seed, was drawn into the same quarterfinal as Nadal, the No. 2 seed and 2010 U.S. Open champ.

Nadal holds a 21-10 edge all-time on Federer, including a recent three-set victory in the quarterfinals of the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati,  5-7, 6-4, 6-3.

Federer is the all-time leader with 17 Major titles, while Nadal owns 12.

Huntington (W.V.) Prep point guard Josh Perkins will announce his college choice on Saturday in Colorado and all signs point to him landing at Gonzaga, multiple sources close to the recruitment told SNY.tv.

Perkins had initially listed a five of Gonzaga, UCLA, Minnesota, UConn and Kentucky.

Kentucky never offered the 6-foot-2 point guard, and he never ended up taking a visit to UConn.

Eli Carter and Derrick Randall are “expected” to receive waivers to play immediately at Florida and Pittsburgh, respectively, following their transfers from Rutgers, an NCAA source told SNY.tv Wednesday.

“They are expected to go through once we have the official paperwork from the respective schools,” the source told SNY.tv.

The source confirmed that Rutgers transfer Vincent Garrett had received a waiver to play immediately at Wisconsin-Green Bay.

All told, four former Mike Rice players are expected to suit up for their new schools in the 2013-14 season, as SNY.tv first reported that Mike Poole had received a waiver to play this year at Iona.

AVALON, N.J. — After spending more than 30 days on the road in July and August recruiting in the U.S. and coaching his team in Europe, Pat Chambers is back on the sunny Jersey Shore for a few days of rest and relaxation with his family.

In the midst of a 10-mile bike ride Tuesday morning, Chambers stopped off for some coffee at the Avalon Coffee Co., and a chat with a reporter. Wearing blue shorts, a faded blue “Penn State” basketball shirt and sunglasses, a cheerful Chambers chatted with fans and well-wishers inside the coffee stop as he waited on line for his java.

“It’s close to a month, a month and a half of not seeing your kids,” Chambers said of his summer. “And it’s not easy because they need a father and you want to be around them during the important years. They’re 4, 3 and 1. ‘Where’s daddy?’ It’s hard so now this week being down here I’m trying to catch up and spend a lot of time with them and get that family time back.”

Tyler Ulis, who recently picked up an offer from Kentucky, has slated an official visit to the campus the weekend of Sept. 8, when Kentucky hosts its annual Alumni Game, his father, James Ulis, confirmed to SNY.tv.

Ulis will reportedly join Jahlil Okafor, Devin Charles Matthews and Derrick Jones for the Alumni Game, which is expected to feature members of Kentucky’s 2010 class against the 2012 class.
