Zach Hodskins, who is missing the lower half of his left arm due to a birth defect, has an offer to join the Florida basketball program as a preferred walk-on, Yahoo!’s Prep Rally reported Thursday.

“It was just a dream come true. My whole life I’ve worked for this opportunity and the chance to play at a high-level Division 1 basketball program,” Hodskins, a 6-foot-2 junior guard at Milton (Ga.) High School, told ESPN Friday.

Prep Rally reported that Alabama-Birmingham and and Birmingham Southern are both considering offering full scholarships to Hodskins.

“When I’m out [on the court], I forget my arm isn’t there and just play ball,” Hodskins told the News-Herald of northern Ohio. “Passion and love for the sport helps me overcome all obstacles. To this day. I haven’t come across anything I can’t do.”
