Brandon Ingram has added a prestigious scholarship offer.
The 15 year old, 6-foot-8 sophomore out of Kinston (N.C.) High received an offer from the University of North Carolina Tuesday night, and says he would love to follow legends in the Tar Heel state.
“It would feel great,” Ingram told SNY.tv. “A lot of legendary players have been in a North Carolina jersey. I don’t know when I will make the decision, but I am just enjoying everything right now, being [that I am] only 15.”
Ingram, the 12th-ranked player in the country in the class of 2015 by ESPN, has also received offers from Wake Forest, Minnesota, VCU, Virginia Tech, and N.C. State. He has also received interest from Clemson, Louisville, Florida, Tennessee and Butler. He has not created a list yet, but expects to cut it eventually.
“I will probably cut it down after my junior AAU season,” Ingram said.
His AAU coach is former UNC star Jerry Stackhouse, and Ingram says that they have had some good conversations about the future.
“We have had some talks about being that player that can take over games,” Ingram said. “Just being me playing my game, shooting the ball, playing defensively, and working hard.”
Ingram doesn’t know how good he can be because he’s so young, but he is just focusing on improving every day.
“I really don’t know what my ceiling is at the moment.” Ingram said. “I don’t know when I will start growing, I’m only 15, and i’m 6-foot-8. I might want to stop growing at 6-foot-9, so I can still be a wing. But I don’t know at the moment.”
