Whitehead Adds Offers & Interest, Planning Visits

2013 UA Undeniable CampAfter spending time in Los Angeles at an Under Armour event, Brooklyn Lincoln guard Isaiah Whitehead has added interest or offers from a trio of new schools but is still focusing on some old stalwarts.

The 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Coney Island, N.Y., added an offer from Miami and interest from Arizona and UCLA.

“I think he’s picked up his game right now,” Lincoln coach Tiny Morton told SNY.tv. “A lot of schools that were recruiting other people are now jumping onto the bandwagon.”

Whitehead Tweeted on Tuesday: “Got Calls From UCLA Arizona & Miami Today.”

Miami has offered, sources told SNY.tv, while Arizona and UCLA remain interested. UCLA head coach Steve Alford plans to watch Whitehead in July. The Lincoln guard previously visited UCLA when Ben Howland was head coach.

Meantime, Whitehead told Scout.com in Los Angeles that he plans to visit Syracuse, Louisville, Minnesota and UCLA before he decides.

Syracuse has long been considered a potential landing spot for Whitehead, who some believe is among the best scorers in the nation.

Morton said Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim called him recently to say he would follow Whitehead in July.

“I talked to Coach Boeheim last week,” Morton said. “He told me he’s going to make sure he sees Isaiah in Las Vegas.”

Morton said he had also spoken directly with Louisville coach Rick Pitino and his son, Minnesota coach Richard Pitino.

Whitehead and Neumann-Goretti point guard JaQuan Newton have also talked about packaging together, possibly at Syracuse, Minnesota or USC.

“Whoever comes at us with positive words,” Whitehead recently told SNY.tv.
