Quentin SniderLouisville commit Quentin Snider has done an about-face nearly two years to the day after pledging to the Cardinals and head coach Rick Pitino.

According to multiple reports on Wednesday afternoon, Snider, a 6-foot-1 point guard, a native of Louisville and a star at Ballard High School, has decommitted from Louisville and will open up his recruitment.

Minnesota was the first school to offer him after the decommitment, according to Jody Demling. That makes sense considering Minnesota coach Richard Pitino recruited Snider at Louisville.

Robert Johnson of Chesterfield (Va.) Benedictine is one of the top shooting guards in the Class of 2014 and will be contributing to ZAGSBLOG periodically entering his senior season.

In his first entry, he cuts his list to 7 schools. He will also take an official visit to Indiana Aug. 24.

What’s up, basketball world?

My name is Rob Johnson. I’m a regular kid with a gift from Richmond, VA, and this is my blog.

This summer has been crazy for me. I can’t thank God enough. I’ve been all across the U.S., received endless amounts of gear and managed to pull in some very good college options.

Tyler Dorsey picked up an offer from Duke on Monday, and his father says the 6-foot-5 guard definitely wants to play the point in college.

“That’s really important,” Jerrid Dorsey told SNY.tv Wednesday. “At the end of the day, that’s what he wants to do. That’s where he feels his future is. He really believes he has it in himself to to become a great point guard.”

Dorsey is a natural scorer and is listed as a shooting guard by the major recruiting services, but the Bellflower (CA) St. John Bosco guard has always been a floor general.

Just a few years ago, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was starring on the basketball court at Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick High School.

Now he’s a former NCAA champion, an NBA player and a member of the USA National Team’s mini-camp.

“It was a brotherhood [at Kentucky],” Kidd-Gilchrist told reporters in Lexington Wednesday, according to Kyle Tucker. “In the NBA, it’s just different. It’s grown men. I’m growing up fast.”

Kidd-Gilchrist participated in the recent USA Basketball mini-camp, alongside former Kentucky players John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis.
