Terance Mann is ready to be the guy at The Tilton (N.H.) School.
The 6-foot-5, 180-pound sophomore guard knows it won’t be easy to replace McDonald’s All-American guard Wayne Selden, but he’s ready for the challenge.
“It’s going to be hard, that’s a huge role to try and replace,” he told SNY.tv, “but I hope to be one of the go-to-guys because I love to score.”
Mann currently holds offers from Florida, Iowa State, Boston College and Rhode Island as well as interest from many others. But he is looking for a team that plays a style that he fits into.
“I’m looking for team that runs a constant motion offense that is always moving, and a team that runs on the fast break well,” he said.
Mann, a combo guard, contributes on both sides of the court with his athleticism and length as well as his ability to shoot off of the dribble. Most recently in his EYBL debut with BABC’s 17U team against the St. Louis Eagles, he exploded, scoring 21 points in a 66-46 win.
Averaging 8.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game so far for BABC, he feels like this summer is a great time to improve.
“Playing up an age group (17U) will help me mentally,” he said. “I need to improve the consistency of my jump shot and finishing with my left hand as well.”
He has good genes, too.
His mother, Daynia La-Force, played at Georgetown and is now the head women’s coach at Northeastern.
Mann may have quite a standard to live up to with a background like that and with Nerlens Noel graduating last year and Selden leaving this year. He knows that he has to work to get there, but in the end, he feels that he is ready.
