Tyson Chandler: ‘It’s Our Turn to Make a Run’

GREENBURGH, N.Y. — Only two members of the Knicks own NBA championship rings.

And one of those players believes that despite losing two straight postseason games, the Knicks are still poised to make a deep postseason run.

“I came here with one goal in mind, and that’s to take the Knicks back to the promised land and I feel like we have the team to do so this year and I think it’s essential that we do it,” Tyson Chandler, who won an NBA championship with Knicks teammates Jason Kidd in Dallas in 2011, said Thursday ahead of tonight’s Game 6 in Boston.

“You don’t have these opportunities too many times in your career where you have an actual team that can make a real run and it’s our turn to make a run.”

To do so, the Knicks would need to end this series in Boston and prevent a scary, winner-take-all Game 7 on Sunday at Madison Square Garden.

The Knicks are favored by a slim 1.5 points in Game 6 and history is on their side — even if the momentum isn’t.

No team has ever come back from 0-3 down to win an NBA playoff series.

In the 107 playoff series where one team has gone up 3-0, 64 of those ended in sweeps, 31 ended in five game, seven ended in six games and three ended in seven games, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Two of those series have yet to be completed — the Knicks-Celtics and the Thunder-Rockets, which also features a Game 6 Friday night.

“It’s playoff basketball,” Chandler said. “The media didn’t have us picked to win this at the start to begin with so you can’t allow yourself to go so far up and then so far down.

“We hold our own destiny. We got off to a 3-0 and then everybody changed the bandwagon and everybody was on our side. Now we’re expected. So the thing we gotta do is just come in, win Game 6, move on.”
