NEWARK — It was a high school game that featured about 10 future Division 1 players and two McDonald’s All-American finalists.

But in the end, Syracuse signee Tyler Ennis and uncommitted sophomore Isaiah Briscoe led St. Benedict’s, ranked No. 5 nationally by USA Today, to a convincing 77-62 victory over Cincinnati commit Jermaine Lawrence and Pope John XXIII.

With Syracuse assistant Adrian Autry watching, Briscoe went for a game-high 24 points and Ennis scored 21 as St. Benedict’s improved to 21-1.

“I think I played [well],” Briscoe said. “Me and Tyler, I definitely think we took over the game when we needed to.”

Trey Lyles, the Rivals No. 5 player in the Class of 2014 out of Indianapolis (Ind.) Arsenal Tech, has a busy week of visits going on.

As previously reported by CardinalAuthority.com, the 6-foot-11, 248-pound Lyles, a onetime Indiana commit, visited Louisville on Sunday for the Marquette game, and will head to Butler today (Tuesday) and Kentucky Saturday.

“It was good,” Tom Lyles, Trey’s father and an assistant at Arsenal Tech, told SNY.tv of the Louisville visit. “It was really good.

“It was quite an experience considering that it’s the only place we have gone that he’s ever experienced outside of Bloomington, outside of Assembly Hall. It’s the first and only school that he’s gone to as far as getting a game in, getting the atmosphere and getting a chance to see what it’s like to play in the KFC Center.

Trey met with Louisville coach Rick Pitino after Louisville’s win over Marquette.

Knicks

Tyson RavensNEW YORK — Carmelo Anthony stood laughing in the entryway to the Knicks locker room, enjoying a good chuckle at Tyson Chandler’s expense.

On a night when he should have been celebrating his franchise-tying third straight 20-rebound game, Chandler had to suck it up and wear a Ravens cap in his post-game interview.

Seems Anthony, a Baltimore native and Ravens fan, bet Chandler, a California native and 49ers fan, on the outcome of the Super Bowl.

The Ravens cap was awaiting Chandler at his locker and he couldn’t believe how fast Anthony had acquired it.

Knicks

Rasheed Wallace hasn’t played for the Knicks since Dec. 13, but coach Mike Woodson said he expects Wallace — and possibly Marcus Camby — back after the All-Star break.

“I just think they’ll be ready once the All-Star” ends, Woodson said Monday. “For sure Rasheed but I don’t know about Camby at this point. They’ll continue to do their therapy work through the break and when we come back and start practice, I’m hoping to have one of them back, hopefully Rasheed.”

Wallace was initially diagnosed with a sore left foot, but the Knicks later called it a “stress reaction” following a report.
