Gordon, Parker, Wiggins Named Naismith Finalists; McDonald’s Selections Announced Feb. 14

Aaron Gordon (Archbishop Mitty High School, San Jose, Calif.), Jabari Parker (Simeon Career Academy, Chicago, Ill.) and Andrew Wiggins (Huntington Prep, Huntington, W.Va.) were named finalists for this year’s Naismith Boy’s High School Player of the Year, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced today.

The 6-foot-8 Parker has committed to play at Duke, while Gordon and Wiggins remain undecided.

The 6-8 Gordon is considering Arizona, Kentucky, Oregon and Washington, while the 6-8 Wiggins is mulling Florida State, Kansas, Kentucky and North Carolina.

“The competition in boy’s high school basketball becomes tougher each year, especially as the athleticism and talent of the finalists continue to reach new levels,” said Eric Oberman, Executive Director of the Atlanta Tipoff Club. “There are three extraordinarily talented contenders remaining and we know that it will be a close call to determine a winner.”

The winner will be recognized at the Atlanta Tipoff Club’s Naismith Awards Banquet on March 19 in Atlanta.

All three are also expected to be named to the McDonald’s All-American Game. The selections for that game will be announced at 5 p.m. EST Feb. 14 on ESPNU.

The McDonald’s Game is set for April 3 at Chicago’s United Center.
