HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.—Larry Brown, the only coach to ever win an NCAA championship and an NBA crown, surveyed the dozens of reporters seated before him at Hofstra’s Physical Fitness Center just minutes after he recorded the 1,661st win of a career that spans parts of five decades.

“This like this every night after Hofstra games?” Brown said after his Southern Methodist team dispatched a short-handed Hofstra club, 73-47.

No, just after a game played following one of the most jarring events in the history of the school’s athletic department.

The overflow media throng, which forced the school to move the post-game press conference from the 16-seat film room to the facility that used to serve as the home of the Hofstra men’s and women’s basketball teams, was there not to chronicle Brown’s return to his native New York with Southern Methodist University but to get its first access to Hofstra coach Mo Cassara since four Pride players were arrested Thursday on multiple counts of burglary.

“We could definitely win a national championship or have a chance to reach the national championship and just always be really successful and reach the levels we want to reach,” Aaron Harrison told Steve Jones of the Courier Journal at the Marshall County Hoopfest.

Aaron had 28 points and Andrew 19 late Friday as Travis (Texas) High beat Ballard, 78-76.

Kentucky coach John Calipari is expected at the event Saturday — when Wiggins and the twins will all play.

BENTON, Ky. — Andrew Wiggins was greeted by a slew of Kentucky fans when he and his Huntington Prep teammates played Friday night at the Marshall County Hoopfest.

The 6-foot-8 Canadian small forward heard chants of “We Want Wiggins,” “Go Big Blue” and “UK, UK” as he put up 29 points, 17 rebounds and five assists en route to MVP honors as Huntington Prep beat Memphis (Tenn.) East, 76-59, before a sold-out crowd of 6,000.

“Oh it was crazy,” said Wiggins, who is photographed to the left courtesy Tom Hurley of KyKernel.com. “Probably the most people I played in front of since the Hoop Summit. It was a big crowd. They loved us. They enjoyed our team. We entertained them.”
