At this point the seven schools are content to let new Commissioner Mike Aresco work to keep the conference together.

“If the bleeding stopped here the seven schools would be happy,”  a source from a Big East basketball-only school told SNY.tv Monday.

NEW YORK — If you went for a beer during the first quarter of the Suns-Knicks game Sunday, you might have missed Rasheed Wallace.

He was, after all, only in the game for 85 seconds before getting ejected with two technical fouls.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, that is the quickest Wallace has ever been ejected.

“He’s the only guy in the league that gets technicals for saying, ‘Ball don’t lie!'” joked teammate Carmelo Anthony, who went for a game-best 34 points in the Knicks 106-99 victory.

NEW YORK
— When Carmelo Anthony heard chants of “MVP, MVP” last year at Madison Square Garden, he was honored but he didn’t feel deserving of them.

The Knicks slogged through a 36-30 lockout-shortened season that was marred by injuries to Anthony and others as well as a coaching change.

“Last year there was no way that I could be that,” Anthony said of the MVP.

Yet when fans chant “MVP” this season — such as on Sunday when Anthony went for a game-best 34 points in the Knicks’ 106-99 victory over the Phoenix Suns — Anthony doesn’t dismiss them.

http://www.inflexwetrust.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/IFWT-Jason-Kidd1.pngNEW YORK — The Knicks hope shooting guard Jason Kidd will return for their upcoming three-game road trip beginning Wednesday in Charlotte.

“Well, he’s back out on the floor shooting a little bit, but when his return is expected, I don’t know at this point still,” Knicks coach Mike Woodson said before the team’s game against Phoenix Sunday.

Kidd has missed three games with back spasms but said Friday he was targeting this week for his return.

The Knicks play at Charlotte Wednesday before visiting LeBron James and the Miami Heat Thursday and the Chicago Bulls Saturday.

http://i.cdn.turner.com/nba/nba/media/act_luke_zeller.jpgNEW YORK — Luke Zeller is rooting for two different No. 1 teams to win national championships in the coming months.

The 6-foot-11 Phoenix Suns rookie attended Notre Dame, which will play Alabama in football for the BCS national championship on Jan. 7.

He is also the older brother of Indiana sophomore Cody Zeller, who plays for the No. 1-ranked basketball team in the nation.

Before the Suns met the Knicks on Sunday at Madison Square Garden, Zeller said he was happy that Alabama beat Georgia, 32-28, in the SEC championship game Saturday night.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/A9FXoC_CEAA1KCp.jpg:largeAfter getting a good look at the Harrison twins this weekend at the Marshall County Hoopefest, Andrew Wiggins said the words that must make Kentucky fans melt.

“The [Harrisons) are great. I could see myself playing with them in the future,” Wiggins told Steve Jones of the Courier Journal. “They love to pass. They can score, and scorers take pressure off me to score.”

The 6-foot-8 Wiggins made the comments after going for 25 points and 9 rebounds as Huntington (W.V.) Prep beat Briarcrest Christian, 74-40, Saturday evening.

He was presented with his second MVP award in two nights by former Kentucky star Derek Anderson, as seen in this photo by Jones.
