Calipari to Watch Wiggins, Towns; Hoop Group Tip-Off

Kentucky coach John Calipari will be on the move recruiting this weekend.

He is expected to watch Andrew Wiggins and Huntington (W.V.) Prep Saturday in Kentucky, and then see 2014 commit Karl Towns Sunday at the Hoop Group Tip-Off in New Jersey.

Huntington, which also features 2015 standout Montaque ” Tekhi” Gill-Caesar, plays Arlington Country Day (Fla.) on Saturday in Ashland, Ky.

North Carolina coach Roy Williams saw Wiggins go for 17 points and 18 rebounds on Wednesday in a rout of University of Charleston JV.

“I love getting out and seeing good teams and good players,” Williams told the Herald Dispatch.

The 6-foot-8 Wiggins will sign in the spring and is considering Kentucky, Florida State, North Carolina, Kansas, Ohio State and Syracuse.

As for the 7-foot Towns, he and his St. Joe’s-Metuchen teammates face Teaneck at 5:45 Sunday at West Orange High School.

After committing to Kentucky Dec. 4, Towns said he planned to talk with Calipari about trying to win an NCAA title.

“Now we’re going to talk about what we going to have to do to get that national championship,” said Towns, 17. “You never play to lose, you always play to win. I sound like Herm Edwards a little bit, but it’s true.”
