LIU Gets Murphy Eligible; Adds Recruit Zanna

One week after getting all four players involved in a fight reinstated with a two-game suspension, LIU got more good news on Monday.

Khalil Murphy, a 6-foot-8 transfer from San Francisco, received a waiver to play immediately this season, LIU head coach Jack Perri confirmed to SNY.tv. The Willingboro, N.J., native averaged 1.8 points last season at San Francisco before transferring. He is the brother of Rutgers guard Eli Carter.

“Khalil is extremely skilled and versatile,” Perri told SNY.tv. “He fits our style of play and will provide valuable depth to our frontcourt.”

“I think my versatility and size will give me a huge advantage and with the fast-paced style it will allow me to make plays for my teammates,” Murphy told SNY.tv this summer.

Also Monday, LIU landed a verbal pledge from 6-7 PF Nura Zanna of Pompano Beach (Fla), the brother of Pitt forward Talib Zanna.
