Aaron Gordon is back from his weekend official visit to Oregon and will head to Washington this coming weekend.
“[He said] he enjoyed it,” Tim Kennedy, head coach at San Jose (Calif.) Archbishop Mitty told SNY.tv Monday. “He was really impressed with the facilities and [said] they take care of their guys over there.”
Gordon knows Oregon point guard Dominic Artis from their time together on the Oakland Soldiers.
“So they have kind of a good connection,” Kennedy said.
The 6-foot-7 Gordon was at Oregon during a busy weekend when the No. 3-ranked football team trounced Pac-12 rival Arizona, 49-0, and the basketball team picked up a pair of commits in the Robinson brothers and also added Rice transfer Arsalan Kazemi.
Gordon has a home visit with Kansas head coach Bill Self on Tuesday and then heads to Washington this weekend.
He will take officials to Kansas (Oct. 11) and Arizona (Oct. 18) and still has to schedule his visit to Kentucky.
“Kentucky’s not finalized, but it might be that late October weekend, that 27th weekend,” Kennedy said.
As for Washington, Gordon has a longstanding relationship with head coach Lorenzo Romar.
“Coach Romar has known his dad since they were in high school,” Kennedy said. “He’s known him since he recruited Drew [Gordon] coming out of high school, so he’s known him for a while.”
Still, Kennedy says Gordon has no favorite as of now.
“I don’t think he has a top one [school] right now,” he said. “I think he’s still feeling them out.”
Kentucky wasn’t really on Gordon’s radar early this summer, but now they’ve become a factor.
“He’s pretty serious about them. they’ve already done their home visit and he’s impressed with Kentucky,” Kennedy said. “He always wants a challenge to go against the top competition around so they’re always going to be in the mix.”
As for Arizona, freshman forward Brandon Ashley is one of several Oakland Soldiers on the roster, “so he knows them,” Kennedy said.
“He’s done an unofficial out there before so he loves the facilities they have out there and the program they’re building up,” Kennedy said.
Gordon may be the least familiar with Kansas, but will meet with coach Self on Tuesday before the official next month.
“That’s one he kind of doesn’t know a lot about, just for the fact he’s never been out there,” Kennedy said. “But it’s Kansas, kind of like a Kentucky thing where it’s always a top program so he’s interested and he has a connection through knowing the assistant [Kurtis Townsend] for a little while.”
Gordon has always said he’ll wait until the spring to sign and that hasn’t changed.
“He’s been saying he’s not going to pick until April for a while,” Kennedy said. “I thought he might have switched it but he’s staying true to that.”
An explosive athlete who helped the Soldiers win the Peach Jam in July, Gordon has been compared to Blake Griffin and Kennedy seems some validity to the comparison.
“A lot of people say that just from an athleticism standpoint,” Kennedy said. “I don’t think he’s as explosive, but I think he shoots it a little better. I think he can handle it a little bit better, too, and pass it a little better. We play him at the point at times and he’s one of our best passers.
“I think he’s a little bit more versatile than Blake is right now.”

Arizona or UDub….Done.
Those in the NW are not talking because they done.
“Whiteboard” Romar and Washington PimpU = Failed.
Why “Whiteboard Romar”?
Because any presentation that he gives are never the same. The name of the players being recruiting are 20 deep. All 19 crossed out, committing to other schools. Only one left is Aaron Gordon.
So, it is easier to the the UDub players recruiting list on a white board.
Note:
Kansas GangsterU is still recruiting AG.
They going to get embarrassed, AGAIN.

kensucky has zero to no chance on Aaron Gordon.
John Cali was in the Bay area yesterday and did not spend any significant time with AG…
Enf said.
Note-
Let kentucky fans take a lesson from their coach,John Cali.
You never see John recruiting players which are on Arizona radar. Boom!

I’m going to laugh when this kid doesn’t pick Arizona, just because of the guy above.

GanjahLuv / September 25, 2012
Whatevs….UK takes Randle and Wiggins, both eat Gordons Lunch,Dinner,Breakfast,Midnight snack, whatever the eff they want. Gordon is off the chart athlete but what else can he do? Cant go left and his jumper is broke.

Sinemax / September 25, 2012
Let’s take it easy with that, GanjahLuv (best username lol) AG wasn’t 100% and missed almost the entire summer, and still killed Peach Jam, winning over CIA Bounce. Wiggins is the better prospect, but him and Randle isn’t killing AG. It’s 5 star vs 5 star.

Quit pretending u kno his game ganjah bc u clearly don’t.
Only reason I worry about Arizona in this recruitment is their abundance of young talented frontcourt players. But I believe Arizona is the team 2 beat in this recruitment.

“But it’s Kansas, kind of like a Kentucky thing where it’s always a top program……hmmmmm

Baloney, homey has no Jumper, plain to see, injured or not. And he cannot drive left. Ive seen all his videos. Their flashy all right but in college he might just be neutralized.

Why would any top-level recruit go to Arizona or Lute Olsen University?
Kentucky had it before you, during you, and will have it after you are gone!

Kingcal – i’m not a fan of either school, but do some reading and you’ll realize that Zona does actually have a pretty good recruiting class coming in. Just sayin’….
/
Sinemax / September 25, 2012
He doesn’t need to read, Miller have been killing recruiting there. Jessie is retarded, but I wouldn’t bash their program because of it. Now with all those 5 stars coming this year, plus the kids that remain, this year is no excuses.

UKSINCEBIRTH / September 25, 2012
Gordon is a great player and I hope he gives KY a shot because he has a lot of skills that fit the system coach CAL runs. Gordon can handle the ball and finish like a lightning bolt at the rim. You put him at the top of the key then run the offense from there. As far as if UK gets him or not the official visit could tell the tale of the tape if its Washington, Arizona or the UK Wildcats.

Oh how crazy Jessie forgets two years ago when he said ,”Doron Lamb to Zona, “Book IT”!!!!
Face it chumps Zona is:
I R R E L E V A N T
Nobody gives a damn about your program.
Never have, never will.
I R R E L E V A N T

Darth Cal / September 25, 2012
Oh yeah,
B O O M ! ! ! Lol

SiJessieWildcat / September 26, 2012
Darth Cal…. Boy did we want Lamb on the team. But, it was easy to see that he was not coming West. (9 months before the commit.)
**But, really, Kensucky screwed him. Be honest, if you can.
How could kensucky not recommend going to the NBA.
He would of been drafted in the 1st round.
The West already knows that kensucky screwed Lamb and T.Jones….by staying.
We all know… how UNC made the players stay one more years. One player stayed because UNC paid him (his mom) more than 100k….for getting “screwed”. Repeatedly.
Harrison must of got more than 100k. Right.
Note–
Dee really let the ACC cheat for years and years.
duke & UNC being the cheat experts.

Sinewoman,
Zona has done a good job of recruiting AG.
AG does like Arizona’s campus,BB team and its players-coaches. So, there is a good fit there.
“Whiteboard Romar” is a friend of the Dad.
Sonny Parker was also a friend.
But, he knows business is business.
And they parted ways…a long time ago.
More and more Washington fans are saying:
-Romar is spending too much time recruiting AG.
-UW wasted its time and lost out on 2 other recruits.
The only recruit left for UW is Darin Johnson.
And from what I heard, quack quack is his choice.

this “King Cal” is like a 14 year old girl with the rah-rah nonsense.

Michael / September 26, 2012
Fellas, Jessie Wildcat does not represent Arizona or its fanbase. Please try not to hate us because of him. For all we know he’s an ASSU fan, since he’s managed to get everyone fan base to hate us.
Darth Cal, you comment on every Arizona article yet claim Arizona is irrelevant. Well, the fact there is an article about Arizona, and the fact you always comment, pretty much proves you are wrong there.
UK and KU- amazing programs. No need to be such dicks over a few lunatic fringe fans.
/
Darth Cal / September 26, 2012
Actually the article is about Gordon, not Zona. I only comment to get a rise out of “the rise” wwildcatworld Jessica and Bj.
Don’t know how long you’ve followed this site, but for the past three yrs these two bitches have talked smack every summer, then vanish as soon as zona tanks it’s first game. Next summer more bullshit from the girls, next fall they’re nowhere to be found. I understand your guys excitement and think Miller will be a good coach someday, but only making the tourney 1 outta 3 yrs is shitty. I mean Bucknell beat you guys on your home court. When Miller actually goes to a final four, then you can talk smack. Zona will get respect when zona deserves respect. Nobody can say they deserve respect at this moment.
