Jordan to Visit St. John’s; Lavin Visits Wainright (UPDATED)

Steve Lavin is gearing up for his 2013 recruiting class.

The St. John’s coach visited Montrose Christian small forward Ish Wainright on Tuesday, and will host point guard Rysheed Jordan this weekend on an official visit, sources told SNY.tv.

The 6-foot-5 Wainright (pictured) is the Rivals No. 11 small forward in the Class of 2013 and has been a St. John’s target for some time.

Lavin and Johnnies assistant Tony Chiles watched the 6-foot-4 Jordan work out last week at Philly Vaux Roberts High. He is also being courted by Rutgers, Villanova, Maryland, UCLA and others.

In addition to the St. John’s visit, Jordan will trip to UCLA Sept. 28-30 and to Maryland Oct. 12-14 for their Midnight Madness.

On Saturday, Jordan will be present when Lavin and the Johnnies players host the Dribble For The Cure to benefit the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation.

“St. John’s just kind of hung around and hung around and hung around,” Kamal Yard, Jordan’s AAU coach who will accompany him on the trip, told SNY.tv.
