JUCO Point Guard Chris Jones Mulling Six Schools

Northwest Florida State College point guard Chris Jones has cut his list to Louisville, Baylor, Florida State, Kansas, Memphis and Oklahoma State.

The 5-foot-10 Jones out of Memphis Melrose High will visit Oklahoma State this weekend.

As reported by the Louisville Courier-Journal, he will also visit Louisville (Sept. 14), Florida State (Sept. 21) and Kansas (Oct. 12). He has already visited Baylor.

On Sunday, the first day college coaches can meet with players, Jones will meet with Louisville coach Rick Pitino and Baylor coach Scott Drew. Memphis coach Josh Pastner and Kansas coach Bill Self come in on Monday. And Florida State’s Leonard Hamilton will come in within the next week.

“He is the best point guard available in this class, junior college, prep or high school,” Northwest Florida coach Steve Forbes told SNY.tv. “He is one of the most competitive players I’ve ever coached. He is a winner. He can distribute and score and is a fierce on-ball defender.”

Jones averaged 18 points, five assists and four rebounds last season, helping the Raiders to a 27-2 record and a national runner-up finish.
