Dez Wells Visits Kentucky, Recruitment in Flux

After texting SNY.tv Wednesday morning that he was considering Louisville, Memphis and Maryland, Dez Wells’ recruitment turned on a dime.

The 6-foot-5 former Xavier wing reportedly visited Kentucky’s campus Wednesday.

Wells was not immediately available for comment about the visit.

Sources told SNY.tv he is slated to visit Memphis Friday and Maryland Saturday.

Dave Telep of ESPN.com Tweeted that Louisville was out of scholarships.

The Memphis Commercial Appeal reported that Wells called Memphis “a great program.”

But with Kentucky now involved, his recruitment remains in flux.

It remains unclear if Wells will be eligible to suit up this year or not.

“Idk,” he texted earlier Wednesday, shorthand for “I don’t know.”

Wells, who averaged 9.8 points last season, was expelled from Xavier Aug. 3 for a violation of the school’s code of student conduct.

Yet on Tuesday, a Hamilton County (Ohio) grand jury opted not to indict Wells on  a sexual assault charge.

  • I hope the kid can suit for Kentucky this year. Kid is a mini MKG.

  • UK only needs 6 players tho.

  • and arizona needs 10.

  • Insider moments ago “Wells is not going to UK. Book it!”

  • No we have ten, bc we run a real program, we don’t give large amounts of cash to kids families 4 one year.
Enjoy it while it lasts BC.

  • Nope, Arizona just gives bags of money to AAU coaches (John C, where you at?!?) for multi-year players that Miller cannot coach-up.

    Big dif!

Bear Down, now go vacuum the living room like your mom told you to, BJ.

  • Lol, why don’t KU fans see the writing on the wall?
No one wants to go to Lawrence anymore. It’s pretty simple why Tarc choose UofA over KU.
Better opportunity to win NC, and I’m sure this was the key point in his recruitment, Starter spot at zona or play behind Withey at KU.
How you think a kid with competent parents would let a aau coach collect $ from a program.
Newsflash it was Tarcs choice, he he burned u guys bad.
So all your we got withey crap u spewed last few years in the end cost you Tarc. ;). Sorry

  • How did Zona do in the NIT? Oh wait….scoreboard/

  • if tarc really wanted to win a national title he would have gone to about a dozen schools before zona.

my guess…he picked zona because he likes tequila and weed.

  • I think he it’s more like pusay and basketball BC.
