NEW YORK — Khadeem Lattin is headed home to Houston.
The 6-foot-9 Houston native is expected to enroll at his former school, Westbury Christian, instead of returning to the Canarias Basketball Academy, his mother, former WNBA player Monica Lamb, told SNY.tv Saturday night at the Big Strick Classic at City College of New York.
Lamb said she would know for certain Wednesday where her son would end up. She also said her son would not reclassify to 2013 and would remain in the Class of 2014.
“I guess we’re going to find out Wednesday [about Westbury Christian],” the 6-foot-9 Lattin told SNY.tv following his 13-point, 8-rebound, 4-block performance helped him win the Co-MVP award with teammate Robert Hubbs as the USA team beat the NYC team, 87-86, at the City College of New York.
Longtime New York recruiting expert Tom Konchalski came away highly impressed with Lattin, who was active around the basket with several putbacks, dunks and layups.
“Khadeem Lattin, [former Texas Western center] Dave’s Lattin’s grandson, was terrific,” he said.
“He’s so active. He runs the floor, he attacks the basket, he gets on the offensive and the defensive boards. He blocks, challenges and changes shots. He does all three.
“He’s a young colt. His grandfather at his age was an absolute stud. He’s going to be a terrific player.”

At that point, it remained unclear where Lattin would land this year.
Now he seems excited about returning to play ball in Houston.
“I went to school in Spain, but before that I was at Westbury Christian,” he said. “And so I’m coming back, so it should be really cool.”
Being out of the U.S. hurt Lattin’s recruiting rankings, as Winn detailed in his story, but now he’s excited to climb back up the rankings.
“Of course,” he said. “I was 21 at all positions and second at mine [power forwards] when I left. And midseason I came back and they just forgot about me.
“So I guess I’m going to have to show them what I’m about now that I’m back.”
Lattin said he’s hearing the most from Baylor, Georgetown, Arizona, Memphis, Texas and Texas A&M, but has no visits planned right now.
“I try my hardest to play like Kevin Garnett, Mr. Intensity,” he said. “Nobody gets after it like he does, or how he has. Hopefully, I can elevate my game to a more offensive level, maybe like Kevin Durant, being that he’s 6-11.
“We have the same frame body, so that I’m trying to get to.’
