Xavier Rathan-Mayes has cut his list to 10 schools and plans to visit Kentucky unofficially Friday.
“Top 10 Is Baylor, Uconn, Alabama, FSU, Kansas, Kentucky, Illinois, Memphis, Texas, UCLA no specific order,” Rathan-Mayes tweeted.
“And will be visiting Kentucky this Friday Unofficial,” Rathan-Mayes tweetd.
The 6-4 shooting guard from Huntington Prep told SNY.tv last week that he and fellow Canadian Andrew Wiggins have talked about playing together in college, possibly at Kentucky.
“Definitely,” the 6-foot-4 Rathan-Mayes of CIA Bounce told SNY.tv at Stockton College last week. “We’ve always wanted to play together since we were young and go to school together so that’s definitely a possibility.”
Rathan-Mayes also plans to visit Kansas at some point.
“I will take a visit down to Kansas, that I know,” said Rathan-Mayes told theshiver.com last week at the Peach Jam.
He just doesn’t know when that will be yet. But it’s a visit he’s looking forward to taking.
“I know Coach [Bill] Self is a great coach,” Rathan-Mayes said. “I followed Kansas a lot [last season] and watched Thomas Robinson and the point guard [Tyshawn] Taylor. They really had a great season.”

For what it is worth, he is visiting KU too and KU was his first school to schedule a visit..
” “As for visits – I will take a visit down to Kansas, that I know,” said Rathan-Mayes. “Other than that I don’t really know yet,” he added.
Rathan-Mayes was offered by the Kansas staff some time ago, and he is looking forward to learning more about the Kansas program. Outside of hearing about the great Kansas basketball tradition and following how the Jayhawks do during the season Rathan-Mayes isn’t too familiar with all that is Kansas basketball.
“I know Coach Self is a great coach,” said Rathan-Mayes about Kansas coach Bill Self. “I followed Kansas a lot [last season] and watched Thomas Robinson and the point guard [Tyshawn] Taylor. They really had a great season,” Rathan-Mayes added.
Nw back to your east coast and kentucky circle jerks.

Do every fanbase have their own JessieWildcat?
/
kungpaochicken / August 1, 2012
I’ll take JessieWC over an unknown UK fan any day, at least he has a schtick. As for the UK fans, they’re hands down the dumbest fans on the planet.

Unfortunately yes, every fan-base has its share of idiots and it seems most of them have the internet.
Back to the article,if the kid can play and doesn’t mind sharing his time with elite recruits come to Kentucky and get about 10-15 minutes a game.Within 2 years be drafted.
Go Big Blue!

Sinemax,
We call them JW mini-me.
They don’t grasp the concepts.
But, I also heard that KU visit is not a done deal.
ps- why name 10 schools. You don’t know where to go?

I do like how John Calipari understands the #ArizonaTriangle.
Did he really stay away from Vegas.
Good decision.

When you have over 30 offers, cutting it to 10 makes sense.

Demarcus has a babysitter, maybe Strickland needs one too. When’s Cal going to get on this, could WWW assist here?

KingCal8 / August 2, 2012
Awe Kungpao I thought that I explained to you how pu$$/::fied you look when you try to play the cheating card. Just turn off college basketball because you and others are going to hate Kentuckys domination
/
kungpaochicken / August 3, 2012
so mentioning a person associated with Cal and the UK program is playing the cheating card?
As for Kentucky’s domination, it has nothing to do with Kentucky and everything to do with a dumb requirement that makes kids go to school for a year. If it had anything to do with Kentucky you wouldn’t be on your third coach in the last 10 years. Once again, NOTHING TO DO WITH KENTUCKY.
/
KingCal8 / August 3, 2012
Who is your team Kungpao? Whoever you chear for, I could name a dozen so-called shady situations/characters associated with said program. I’m all about what happens on the court.
Kentucky basketball is the winningest program in the history of the sport. EVERY program makes a bad hire or two but Kentucky finally made the right hire!
The dumb requirement you speak of does not explain Kentuckys other 7 titles or most games won does it?
I got news for you, Cal would win big at Kentucky whether or not the one year rule was in place.
And yes, Kentuckys resources, winning tradition and unmatched fan support has a little to do with it! In the end it is up to the coach to use the resources correctly! I know you are in pain and feel like you have been hit by a train so for your benefit, just turn off basketball for a while!!

“KENTUCKY WILDCATS 2012 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS”
No matter how many times I say and/or type that,it never gets old.
“Just a matter of time before we hang number nine”
/
KingCal8 / August 4, 2012
Kungpao, Show me a program where it is about the name and not the coach! In order for the name to mean anything, you must have a coach to make it mean something.
Ironically, unlike most programs, Kentucky basketball is probably one of only three programs where the name really does mean something special. Please tell me you understand this and are not stupid enough to believe that Cal would have left Memphis for say Virginia?
/
kungpaochicken / August 4, 2012
Awe shit, I just got hit by a train driven by an oblivious UK fan!
Way to make the point that Cal is bigger than UK then try to say its like UNC or Kansas where winning happens regardless of the coach.
/
Darth Cal / August 4, 2012
Bucknell, Bradley, Northern Iowa, Vcu.
That is all.
/
KingCal8 / August 4, 2012
Kungpao,Cal is not bigger thn Kentucky nor was Pitino, tubby or Hall (all of which have won national titles).
Winning regardless of the coach does not happen anywhere.
When you marry a great coach with a great program good things happen.

I love how KU thinks they r a top 3 program all time.
Are you guys are that Clueless?
UCLA 11 NC
UK 8
UNC 5
IU. 5
Duke 4
Get the picture……
/
kungpaochicken / August 4, 2012
A little dated, however this ranking system doesn’t suffer from 100% of the logical fallacies that are inherent with the UofABJ thinking:

Not interested in reading your article.
KU not in top 5 for NC…….
/
UofA BJ / August 5, 2012
Couldn’t resist reading the article kungpao.
Good stuff, did you recognize ARIZONA at no. 5?
BC I’ve heard many KU fans contend that UofA is not a top 10 program last 30 years.
/
kungpaochicken / August 5, 2012
The argument you’ve heard re Arizona is not the last 30 years, more like the last 10.
Anyways, notice that there would be reshuffling in the top 4, UCONN would pass UA and there would be a huge drop-of between tier 1 and tier 2 according to the metrics used in the ESPN ranking article.
Your poor attempt to lower KU into UA status has been shot down, NEXT!
/
UofA BJ / August 5, 2012
Just saying KU 3 NC
Not in top 5
