Knicks Sign Chris Smith

The Knicks on Wednesday signed Chris Smith, the younger brother of shooting guard J.R. Smith and a former Louisville Cardinal.

Chris Smith tweeted pictures of himself signing the contract with Knicks GM Glen Grunwald sitting in the background.

Smith played for the Knicks summer league team in Las Vegas, averaging 5.2 points and 1.4 assists. He figures to be the fourth shooting guard on the Knicks roster.

The Knicks will now have a pair of brothers from Freehold, N.J. on their roster.

“Oh, that would be something special, you know?” Chris, 24, told SNY.tv by phone recently.

“It’s probably one of the first times it [brothers playing together] ever happened.”

J.R., who recently re-signed with the Knicks, is excited about playing with his younger brother.

“Lil bro wit the #knickstape two brothers on the same team at the same damn time!” J.R. tweeted.

  • Lol what a joke. This kid couldnt buy a bucket in college, now he’s in the league?
Wonder if jr being a FA had anything to do with this?

  • Being undrafted and you score 5 a game in summerleague gets u a deal? Wow

  • would have been the leading scoring at Zona…

  • HAHA! That is some All-Star level trolling there kungpao, bravo!

  • Guy scored 8 a game.
    Don’t think so.

  • Big difference scoring 8 points for a final four team and whatever he would have put up on that shitshow Zona team. What tourney did Zona play in last year?!?!

  • Still hung up on last year huh.
Looks like u r still sad about UK loss.

  • Why is your name kungpaochicken?
    Because u love nuts?

  • Who’s KU s top returning scorer?
And how many pts a gm?
Should b a laughable season in Lawrence.

  • KU had a great season. Least talent in a decade and the squad played in the title game?!? As for your questions about top returning scorer/ppg, ask that same question prior to the 2011/12 season and you’ll realize how dumb you look. One word: Coaching.

  • And to answer the question I posed above:

    Taylor 2010/11: 9.3 ppg
    Robinson 2010/11: 7.6 ppg

    vs

    Withey 2011/12: 9 ppg
    Johnson 2011/12: 10.2 ppg

Tough times for the Zona trolls and their made up rivalry with Kansas.

  • It’s not tough having the deepest, most talented roster in the country.

  • Pretty clear rebuttal, BJ.
