    Florida guard Mike Rosario managed just 4 points in Puerto Rico’s 80-72 loss to the John Calipari-coached Dominican Republic in the Centrobasket gold medal game Sunday, yet he made the final cut for Puerto Rico’s Olympic qualifying roster.

    “It feels great because I know how hard I am working because I want this year coming up to be a special one for me to remember,” Rosario told SNY.tv.

    “I’m taking advantage of all opportunities. I have a very special gift that God gave me and that’s the talent to play basketball at the highest level I’m ready. Therefore, I want to thank my coach, Billy Donovan, for giving me the opportunity. This really means a lot to me and my future.”

    Tyler Roberson, one of the top small forwards in the Class of 2013 out of Roselle (N.J.) Catholic, will be contributing periodically to ZAGSBLOG entering his senior season. Here’s his fourth entry:

    Since I last wrote I have been busy in the gym and with AAU and my recruitment.

    My AAU team, the NJ Roadrunners, has been doing well lately. We won the Reebok Philly Showdown and have been playing well as a unit. I believe we will maintain our level of play through the summer.

    A couple of weeks ago, I played in the NBA Top 100 Camp and there was a lot of competition and I had fun.

    Moe Harkless was born and raised in Queens, N.Y. before playing one year of college ball at nearby St. John’s.

    But the native New Yorker could end up getting drafted to play out on the Left Coast.

    The 6-foot-8 Harkless is finishing up his workouts with a pair of tryouts today (Monday) in Sacramento after spending Sunday with Golden State and last Wednesday with Portland.

    Ever since reclassifying to the Class of 2013 from 2014, Wayne Selden’s recruitment has sped up significantly.

    Instead of having to pick a school a year from now, the 6-foot-4 Tilton (N.H.) School small forward will try to select a school this year.

    “The schools coming the hardest probably would be Florida, Ohio State, Missouri, UCLA, Harvard and Kansas,” Selden said from the Kevin Durant Skills Academy in Chicago. “[They are] coming at me the hardest.”

    Selden has no visits planned yet, but said,  “I’m going to visit some schools but I’m not sure which ones at which times.”

    D’Angelo Russell enjoyed his visit to Cincinnati last week and heads to Kentucky for another visit Monday, SNY.tv has learned.

    “Just to get a call from Coach Cal, it really meant a lot,” Antonio Russell, D’Angelo’s father, told SNY.tv, adding that Monday’s visit will likely only last “a couple hours.”

    Kentucky coach John Calipari was in San Juan, P.R. Sunday night coaching the Dominican Republic to an 80-72 victory over Puerto Rico in the Centrobasket championship gold medal game. Calipari and the DR will now try to qualify for the London Olympics beginning July 2. But Angelo said it was his understanding that Calipari would be back in Lexington on Monday.
